About Me
My name is Evy, but my neighbors call me Eefje. I live with my dear husband Norbert and 3 felines in a small town, south of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The cats are all used to living indoors and in their senior years. Bacardi, a seal point Ragdoll, craves for petting and loves to bite naked calfs if he’s not given immediate attention. Joseph Guy or Joey is a silver Maine Coon. He’s very sweet, but he seems to get spooked by everything. Koolrabi is a mix-breed of European Shorthair and Norwegian Forest Cat. She does have short hair. She will sit on our lap and sleep there as long as we do not move. Recently she’s been behaving like a kitten and eating like a horse. We have discovered that she suffers from Hyperthyroidism caused by ectopic thyroid gland tissues in her lung. This causes her to cough once in a while and her hyperactivity.
I have been fascinated with life and medicine in the last few years and decided to study Veterinary Medicine at the Universiteit Utrecht. In addition to my interests in animals (specifically cats) and biochemistry, I like sketching/drawing, cooking, baking, horse riding, rock climbing, trekking/traveling, architecture and design. As for artists and paintings, I like the work of Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, and Jan Steen.
And most importantly, I am bad at keeping up with my own blog …
About This Blog
Why Blob[p]?
Blob is the nick name of one of our cats, Wasabi. She was completely black with the exception of a few white hairs on her chest. However, I was not sure of the correct spelling and too lazy to consult a dictionary. This blog is now dedicated to the memory of Wasabi (2000 – 2010). She came to live with us at the age of 3 months, straight from a farm. We had to bike for 26 km round trip to get her. We had to put her to sleep in March 2010 due to Chronic Renal Failure. She suffered from CRF and was put on a special diet for 3 years, before her condition really worsened.
