Hi there, saw a link to your blog on slashdot, apparently in your husband’s sig?
These are very lovely drawings! I really like them.
Anyway I just wanted to comment on the text in your latest drawing. The reason why it’s “harder” to draw pictures of people is probably because you are a person. Your brain is designed to recognize people, so you’re instinctively trained to look for details that other species would miss. If a duck looked at one of your duck drawings, no matter how lovely they seem to you or I, it would notice little things like nostril position or beak shape.
I think Jorge is onto something there. People are hard to draw, but this sketch is great. I love the way you incorporated the text into the drawing, too.
I think you are too hard on yourself. And I believe Jorge is right about why people may be “harder” to draw. But you have captured the essence of that person at the coffee shop. Writing in the journal or maybe writing a letter. I don’t think your lines are too light or hesitant. There is wonderful line quality here and I love the way you have left space in the actual drawing – in the space of the drawing — for your own thoughts. Overall a wonderful sketch.

Your drawings are lovely and yes, evoke peace. Your handwriting is quite beautiful. It is very much like the handwriting of a korean/American woman who broke my son’s heart – twice!!
I find your work inspiring and your handwriting scary, but truly beautiful, nonetheless. Like love.
Not only you have a wonderfull work but also a beautifull hand writing. Congrats

Quack. (I like it.)
I love how you use just a little color, it is so effective.
Love your ducks too!
Thank you everyone!
.
Jorge: I think you are right! Thanks for pointing that out
terrific! pose and expression completely captures that moment of being totally absorbed in the writing and yours above is just a perfect touch!
