The view from my window

Window

An entry for the Everyday Matters Weekly Challenge #18.

Well, this is what I see from my bedroom window(s). At the moment I was drawing this, my towel was hanging outside. We still haven’t bought a dryer yet, since we are still busy with remodeling. Currently we don’t have a space for a dryer, but oh, how we’d love to have one.
Soon….
Then there is the fire escape ladder. It runs from the top floor to just below our floor. So when there is a fire, the upstairs neighbors will have to climb down ’till our level and then jump to downstair neighbor’s back yard.
The building shown is my GP’s office. Handy to have him so close to our place, but so unfortunate that one can’t never have an appointment within a day or two. We must wait at least a week to be able to see the GP for whatever problems.

This is my x try of using watercolor ‘my way’. I am still too lazy to read a book on watercolor technique. So I keep using ink as the ‘base’ for my sketch, being afraid that if I use pencil then it will look too muddy or something like that. One of these days I’ll use the combination pencil and watercolor and read some books on the technique….

  1. Very nice drawing–I really like the way you use watercolor. I am trying out watercolor too-same as you-just experimenting! Can’t wait to see more of your work!

  2. wonderful drawing, I love it, it’s full of colour and life. great job for the challenge!

  3. Well done! I love the fact that you drew the pegs on the line too. That’s a nice quirky touch and makes me smile when I look at the scene. I can just imagine a nice breeze blowing through this window.

  4. I also like this drawing, nice colors, but not too much. It is a drawing full of life, in the spirit of ‘Everyday matters’.

  5. Thank you for your comments, everyone. It did turn out to be better than I expected it.

  6. This is great. I love the colors you used, so cheerful and it’s fun to see outside your window :) I love ink and watercolor together. That’s usually how I sketch, so I’m sort of partial to this style.

  7. You did a terrific job on this challenge! I like what you are doing with the watercolors your own way. Love all the detail in your painting. Sad that you have to wait a week to see your GP. Sounds the same as around here too. Lovely illustration!

  8. there’s something nice about a line with washing hanging from it, and clothespins, too! =)

  9. Hi, I new to the drawing club too. I really enjoyed visiting your site. What a pain about supplies! Glad you found a place to get just what you want. Hope you don’t have to wait too long to get your stuff.
